Terms and conditions
Last updated 1 September 2026. This applies to anyone using the Coach Seat website, as a rider or as an operator.
1. Who we are
Coach Seat is operated by Coach Seat Ltd ("Coach Seat", "we", "us"), part of The Adams Group. These terms govern your use of the Coach Seat website and any booking you make through it.
2. What Coach Seat is
Coach Seat is a booking marketplace. We connect riders with independent coach operators who have spare seats on trips and tours they are already running. We are not a coach operator, we do not own or drive any coaches, and we are not a party to the contract for the journey itself. That contract is between you and the operator running the trip.
3. Prices and payment
Operators set their own prices. We do not add anything to the price an operator sets, and any offer or discount shown against a trip is funded by the operator, not by Coach Seat. We charge operators a commission on each seat booked; this is not added to your price. When you book, payment is taken through the site and held until it is released to the operator.
4. If a trip doesn't happen or is disrupted
Coach travel can be affected by things no one involved can fully control, including weather, traffic, road closures, vehicle faults and driver availability. Coach Seat is not the carrier and does not operate the trip, so we are not responsible for a trip being delayed, cancelled, cut short, or otherwise not taking place as planned, for any reason, including the ones listed above. The operator running the trip is responsible for the trip itself, and where the operator is at fault, your contract and any claim sits with them, not with Coach Seat.
Nothing in this section limits any liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
5. Refunds
Refunds for a trip are the responsibility of the operator who ran, or was due to run, the trip. Where a refund is owed, we will action your request and pass it on to the operator promptly. Once funds have been paid out to an operator, however, the timing of any refund can depend on that operator, and we are not liable for delays in a refund reaching you where the money is already with the operator rather than with us. If you're waiting on a refund and it's taking longer than it should, contact us and we'll chase it on your behalf.
6. Connecting travel
If you're booking a coach trip to connect with another journey, such as a flight, train or ferry, it is your responsibility to allow enough time for delays. Neither Coach Seat nor the operator is liable for any cost, loss or missed connection arising from a coach trip running later than scheduled, including where that causes you to miss a flight, train, ferry or any other onward booking.
7. Operators
Operators listing on Coach Seat confirm that they hold a valid operator's licence, appropriate insurance, and any other permissions needed to run the trips they list. Coach Seat carries out checks before an operator's first listing goes live, but we do not guarantee an operator's ongoing compliance and are not liable for an operator's failure to meet their legal obligations.
8. Accounts and acceptable use
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us and for keeping your account details secure. Don't use the site to post false reviews, misrepresent a trip, harass another user, or attempt to circumvent bookings or payments made through the platform.
9. Reviews and ratings
Reviews should reflect a genuine experience of a trip booked through Coach Seat. We may remove reviews that are abusive, unrelated to the trip, or that we reasonably believe to be fake.
10. Our liability to you
To the extent permitted by law, Coach Seat's liability to you is limited to losses that are a foreseeable result of our own breach of these terms, and does not extend to losses arising from the acts or omissions of an operator. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. These terms don't affect your statutory rights.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to how the site works. We'll post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the update.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of England and Wales.

This page is a plain-English summary of our terms and is provided as a starting point. It hasn't been reviewed by a solicitor and shouldn't be treated as legal advice, we'd recommend having it checked before relying on it for a live site.
