About
About Coach Seat
Coach Seat connects people with spare seats on coach tours that are already running. We're a booking marketplace, not a coach operator, and we've built the business so that stays true.
Why we started
Coaches leave with empty seats every day
A coach that's booked for a 40 seat tour often leaves with 30 people on board. Those empty seats cost the operator money whether they're filled or not, and the people who'd have gone if it were easier to find and cheaper to book never get the chance. That gap is the whole reason Coach Seat exists. We give operators a way to fill the seats they'd otherwise waste, and we give riders a way to find them, without either side needing to do anything they weren't already doing.
How we make money
We only get paid when you do
Coach Seat runs on commission, not markup. Here's exactly what that means in practice.
Listing is free
Operators list their spare seats at no cost. There's no subscription and no fee to go live.
We take a cut of the booking
When a seat sells, we keep a small percentage. If nothing sells, we earn nothing. That's the whole model.
The price you see is the operator's price
We don't add anything on top of what the operator charges. Any offer or discount on a trip is funded by the operator, not by us, so it never comes out of our commission.
Who this is for
Built around the people who use it
Every decision on this site gets checked against two questions: does this make it easier for a rider to find a seat they'll actually enjoy, and does this treat the operator fairly for the trip they're running. Riders are the reason we exist and operators are the reason we have anything to offer them, so we don't see much room to cut corners with either. If something on the site ever looks like it's working against you rather than for you, tell us. That's not what we're going for and we'd want to know.
